“I investigate, feel, select, manipulate, combine, take apart, put together materials, I feel their energy, I listen to their stories and I create new stories” Sole
Born in Montevideo to a sculptor father and designer mother, after her High School Diploma, Sole Rodriguez attends both the Faculty of Biology and the Art Academia in her home town: a double path that led this artist to develop her love for material research and art.
A biologist by trade but always close to the world of art and design, Sole spent time following a path parallel to her main profession, in an ongoing search for a way to express herself and what she feels.
Thus, Sole, developed her personal approach to the the creative act.
She started with painting and carried on with material manipulation to reach the formal synthesis of her current works.
Through objects, materials, the interaction between shape and colour, Sole attempts to understand human nature and the complexity of being: “We are matter, composed by endless hues, but like my creations, inside we have a single beautiful identity, a soul.”
SOLE’S WORKS PURSUE HARMONY THROUGH A BALANCED COMBINATION OF MATERIALS, SHAPES AND COLOURS.
Mixing a vast array of techniques, she weaves one material into another, a symbol of the different hues of human existence/life and creates a unique and special art work.
When I set up my workshop in Torino, I tried to create a specific feeling of home; whenever I am in this space. I can express this feeling in one sentence:
“Where there is no space and no time we find our true being, which has chosen a specific and unmistakable shape to gather experience in this world made of space and time.”
My workshop is open for exhibitions, small events and other initiatives.
I enjoy sharing my workshop with other artists, stylists, designers, and creative people in general, so that my walls can absorb creative energy.
